Villa Rica Pousada Boutique is born as a tribute to the origins of the rich villages of Minas Gerais, especially the city of Ouro Preto, which was initially called Vila Rica. The region boasts special and diverse mining characteristics within the so-called iron quadrangle, one of the richest areas in Brazil.

Even before reaching the lands of Vila Rica (now Ouro Preto) in the 16th century, the Bandeirantes explorers began traversing the current region of the State of Minas Gerais in search of gold. The path they used to reach the lands of gold passed right here, where we are, in the Paraopeba Valley region, within the municipality of Brumadinho.

Inspired by these colonial characteristics and the surrounding mountains, Villa Rica Pousada Boutique has combined in one place the hospitality, cuisine, and art of Minas Gerais.

Ouro Preto

Ouro Preto stands out among Brazil’s historic cities for its Baroque ensemble, considered the largest in the world, built during the gold rush by the most important masters of Baroque art and architecture, including the Minas-born Aleijadinho and Mestre Athayde.
